Sell Knicks Tickets Without Waiting for a Buyer

    Published October 26, 2026 · Updated October 26, 2026

Sell Knicks tickets with a clear plan: check resale and transfer eligibility, compare marketplace payouts with a direct offer, and choose when to get paid.

Need to sell Knicks tickets you can't use? Open the account holding your seats and check whether you can resell or transfer them. If you can, choose between setting a price and waiting for a buyer or accepting a direct offer. A listing price tells you what you're asking, not what you'll receive.

Check your Knicks tickets before agreeing to a sale

Open the game in the team, venue or Ticketmaster account holding your tickets. Select the seats you intend to sell and look for Sell and Transfer. Read any resale restrictions or timing notices on that order. Another game in your season package may have different rules.

    Those buttons answer different questions:

    What your account shows

What it means for your next step

    Sell is available

You can follow the account's resale flow for those seats, subject to the rules shown there.

    Transfer is available

You can investigate a sale that requires delivery to another account, including a direct offer. Confirm the buyer's delivery instructions before sending anything.

    Sell is unavailable

Don't assume an off-platform sale is permitted. Read the order's restrictions and inspect Transfer separately.

    Transfer is unavailable

Don't promise delivery to a direct buyer or an outside marketplace. A resale option inside the account may still be available.

Ticketmaster says the event organizer controls whether and when transfer opens. It may open closer to the event, but it is not guaranteed. A pending transfer or active resale listing can also block a new transfer. Before switching from a listing to a direct sale, remove the listing and make sure you still control the seats. Keep the same seats out of other sale channels.

Where can you sell Knicks tickets?

You can list eligible tickets or request a direct offer. Your ticket account determines which routes are available.

    Route

    How the sale happens

    Price control and trade-off

    When payment arrives

    Resale in your ticket account

Use Sell for the eligible order and set the price allowed by that flow.

You choose an asking price within any applicable rules; it may not sell.

Follow the account's payout terms; don't assume payment on listing day.

    StubHub listing

Create a listing and fulfill the order using the delivery method allowed for those tickets.

You choose the asking price but need a buyer and must account for seller deductions.

StubHub says payouts are typically processed within 8 business days after the event.

    SeatGeek listing

Add the eligible tickets, choose a price and manage the listing until it sells.

You can adjust the price; there is no buyer until someone purchases.

SeatGeek says payouts are generally sent after the event; once initiated, they typically arrive in 5–7 business days.

    WeBuyTickets direct offer

Submit ticket details, review the offer, then transfer through the official ticket channel if you accept.

No public listing or seller fee; you accept the offered amount rather than testing a higher asking price.

WeBuyTickets advertises payment by PayPal or Venmo in minutes after the transfer process.

A direct offer suits you if you'd rather finish the sale than wait for someone to pay your asking price. You still need to deliver the seats through the approved transfer method. An offer can't make a non-transferable ticket transferable.

What if Sell works but Transfer does not?

Use the account's resale option if it permits one. An outside buyer cannot enable Transfer. Ticketmaster says an organizer may restrict tickets to its Face Value Exchange, ruling out a separate transfer-based sale. If neither option works, you cannot promise those seats to a buyer.

Compare what you will actually receive

Demand for sporting events varies. A New York Knicks game against the Los Angeles Lakers or an NBA playoff game may support a higher asking price, but you still need a buyer. A marketplace may then deduct seller fees. Compare the net amount you would receive with the direct offer. WeBuyTickets says it charges no seller fees, so its accepted quote is the amount it says you'll receive.

Say your listing price is higher than the direct offer for the same pair. You could earn more if a buyer pays it and your proceeds after fees beat the offer, provided you can deliver the tickets. With a direct offer, you know the agreed amount before you transfer. Either route could bring in less than you paid if demand has dropped.

StubHub's payout policy and SeatGeek's payout policy describe payments after the game, even if someone buys your tickets earlier. With WeBuyTickets, the advertised payment comes after successful transfer. If you have time to find a buyer and change your price, list. If the game is close, an offer lets you decide sooner.

If Transfer is available for your order, submit the event and seat details through the WeBuyTickets offer form. You don't need to create a listing. The company says the submission takes about 60 seconds and it provides an offer within minutes. You can decline it.

    1. Find the seats in your account. Note the game, section, row, quantity and any transfer restrictions for those tickets.

    2. Request an offer using details for the tickets you can deliver. Compare it with what you would need to net from a listing.

    3. If you accept, remove any live listing for those seats before transferring. Use the official ticket-account transfer flow rather than sending a screenshot or barcode by message.

    4. Complete the transfer. WeBuyTickets advertises PayPal or Venmo payment in minutes after tickets are transferred through official channels. That timing cannot overcome a restricted transfer.

Close to tip-off, you have less time to resolve a transfer problem or wait for a buyer. Check the ticket account first, then request a direct offer if Transfer is available. If you list earlier instead, you have more time to try for a higher price.

    Which route should you take?

If Sell is enabled but Transfer is blocked, use the account's permitted resale route and follow its price rules. If Transfer is available and you have time, a marketplace lets you set the asking price, though you might not sell or get paid soon. To settle on an amount without listing, consider WeBuyTickets. It buys tickets directly, charges no seller fee and advertises quick PayPal or Venmo payment after official transfer. A listing could pay more if it sells at a higher net price, and WeBuyTickets still needs tickets you can deliver.

    FAQ

Can you resell tickets after buying them?

Sometimes. Open the original ticket account and inspect the Sell and Transfer options for the particular Knicks order. The event organizer can restrict resale or transfer, so buying a ticket does not guarantee you can sell it to someone else.

    How to sell NBA tickets?

Start in the account holding your tickets and check whether resale or transfer is enabled for that event. If eligible, choose between an account resale listing, a compatible marketplace listing and a direct offer; compare the net amount and when payment is due.
